ChuvSU Team Took Part in the Educational Intensive "Island 10-22"

Today I. N. Ulianov ChuvSU hosted the press-conference on the results of participating in the intensive "Island 10-22" among the 100 leading high school teams in the country. According to the majority of ratings (sports and educational activity, outstanding advances, the number of agreements, volumes of digital traces and other) the Chuvash team became a confident middle-place holder among the top 100 universities of Russia specially selected by the Education Ministry to participate in the “Island”.

The outcomes of taking part in the educational forum were summarized by the Rector, Andrey Aleksandrov, under whose leadership the team achieved good results. At the Forum Andrey Aleksandrov introduced the University digital development programme "University as a driver of transition to digital energy» and received positive feedback from both the jury and participants. Several federal universities expressed their willingness to engage in joint development of technological and educational products.

Background

The educational intensive "Island 10-22" was completed on the 22^nd of July in Skoltekh. It was attended by 1.5 thousand people, representing 100 teams of universities and scientific and educational centers from 72 districts of the country. The organizers of this intensive were the Ministry of science and higher education, University 20.35, STI, Skolkovo Foundation, the Russian venture company, the Agency for strategic initiatives, Autonomous Non-Commercial Organization "Digital Economy".

The total number of events of the "Islands" exceeded 2 thousand, including 239 laboratory modules, 231 Master-classes (including more than 50 on the topic of artificial intelligence), as well as lectures and practical classes aimed at forming teams, creating projects, inclusion of universities in implementing a technological breakthrough.

During this intensive university teams launched more than 300 inter-university projects in the areas of data-based management, creation of new personalized educational formats, joint development of artificial intelligence technologies.

Friendship Grows Stronger, Cooperation Develops

On the 18^th of July teachers Pei Ming and U Faye of Anhui Higher Medical College (the town of Ancin, Anhui Province, People’s Republic of China) visited the Medical Faculty of I. N. Ulianov ChuvSU. The guests were accompanied by the Director-General – the chief medical officer of sanatorium "Chuvashiyakurort" S.R. Turnikova. The event was attended by the Chief of the University Division for international programs and academic mobility E.V. Nuzhdaeva, lecturers and employees of the medical faculty. The Dean of the Medical Faculty, V.N. Diomidova, gave a tour of the medical faculty, told about innovative technologies in future doctors training, told about supply of technical equipment at the Centre for accreditation and simulation training, the Anatomical Museum, the class of digital microscopy.

Pei Ming and U Faye arrived in the Chuvash Republic through ChuvSU Supplementary Education Center to organize training by the program of supplementary and professional education for specialists – chiropractors of the Chuvash Republic by the course of traditional Chinese medicine. In spring 2019 our educational institutions concluded a cooperation agreement. Classes are held on the basis of "Chuvashiyakurort".

BACKGROUND:

The beginning of cooperation was put up by an official visit of delegations of City District Anqing of Anhui Province of the People's Republic of China headed by the Chairman of the People's political consultative council the Anqing District Council, Chzhan Czinzhuy to ChuvSU Chinese cultural centre which took place on the 20^th of August 2016. The members of the Chinese delegation supported the initiative of ChuvSU Medical Faculty on studying the traditional Chinese medicine by Chuvash specialists.

During two years there were meetings and discussions with representatives of the Anqing Higher Medical College, which discussed the prospects for cooperation in the field of medicine, including the exchange of ChuvSU medical students and Anqing Higher Medical College students with the purpose of their passing internship in the territories of the twin cities.

On the 12^th of March 2019 in Anqing Higher Medical College the presentation of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University and its medical faculty was made, the Dean of ChuvSU Medical Faculty, V. N. Diomidova, gave the lecture "Ultrasonic Diagnosis of Gastric Pathology" as well as the contract on creating the Centre of traditional Chinese medicine at the Medical Faculty of Chuvash State University was signed.

Students from Chuvashia Made a Presentation of the Republic at the Youth Forum, «The Volga – the Yangtze»

From the 16^th of July to the 25^th of July 2019 the Hunan province, China (PRC) hosts the VI Chinese-Russian Youth Forum "The Volga – the Yangtze."

Russian students get acquainted with the work of local universities, high-tech enterprises, attend lectures of leading Chinese scientists, get acquainted with the history and traditional culture of China and the Hunan province. So, students of delegations from the Chuvash Republic, Saratov and Samara regions visited Zoomlion Science Park and the art gallery named after Lee Czyczyan.

The representatives of the Russian delegation do not only get acquainted with the rich history and culture of China, but tell about their regions as well.

The delegation of Chuvashia presented a Chuvash folk dance and a rousing song in the native language, as well as prepared sweet gifts for Chinese friends. And then the Chinese and Russian students planted trees, testifying to the friendship of the two countries’ youth.

BACKGROUND. On the 16^th of July 2019 the town of Changsha (China, the Hunan province) hosted the opening ceremony of the VI Chinese-Russian Youth Forum «The Volga – the Yangtze» where a member of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, Wang Yun, and Deputy Plenipotentiary Representative of the President of the Russian Federation in VFD, Oleg Mashkovcev, took part. The Russian delegation includes more than 130 student youth representatives of higher educational institutions of the Volga Federal District. The Chuvash Republic is represented by eight students of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, I. Ya. Yakovlev Chuvash State Pedagogical University and the Chuvash State Agricultural Academy.

Russia and China are countries with rich historical and cultural heritage, extensive experience of mutually beneficial cooperation. A new impetus to the further development of cooperation was received in the last few years, including through establishing the format «The Volga – the Yangtze», which established close business and cultural relationship between the regions of the Volga Federal District and the provinces of upper and middle reaches of the Yangtze River. Currently this format made it possible to achieve significant results in the humanitarian sphere: dozens of agreements on bilateral contacts at the University level were signed, annual academic exchanges among universities were established, joint research is under way, as well as conferences and seminars are held, an Association of universities "The Volga – the Yangtze” was created.

The Chuvash State University on the Island. Day 5 and Day 6: Why?

For sure there will be people who carefully read our diary of educational intensive course "Island 10-22" and ask themselves: why does our University need to get into the top 100 teams in Russia?

Let's examine three key points. 

1. Team’s training. 

It is one thing to come up with new projects and to dream about their implementing in different aspects of the University’s activity, staying in Cheboksary. It is quite a different thing – to attend the master class given by the head of the company, which implements these technologies, to try to create a VR project independently, to ask direct questions about the cost of the project, the possibility for the experts to come to the University and about joint implementation of new digital technologies at ChuvSU. Ask, for example, Anna Zavorzaeva, because in the coming months VR will be an integral part of the Palace of culture, and then in several faculties.

2. Communication. 

Even those 12 persons who entered the team gathered around the table before the intensive course once a year. Different profiles, directions and projects. Imagine how rarely 100 Russian universities gather, their teams’ leaders have been living, studying and designing together in a 24/7 mode for two weeks. Let’s reveal a secret that after this intensive the University will have serious partnership agreements.  Telephone directory of every ChuvSU team member has already included a hundred contacts of subdivisions’ heads of universities from across the country. On the "Island" networking is a special system, it is impossible not to meet and not to seek common growth points for further partnership with the Ural Federal University. Ask Darya Troeshestova – the best participant of the laboratory, yesterday selected as such by experts on the outcomes of 5-days’ work, which allowed ChuvSU team to break on 13-th place in the current ranking of teams in the "Island".

3. Transformation.

Perhaps, it is the main objective of the island. Scientific technical information (STI) is a program that would give Russia the opportunity to make a technological breakthrough and to become a world leader in a dozen of industries of the future – aero-net, energy-net, neuro-net, tech-net and others. The task of university teams is to choose the market where the University will make a key breakthrough and become a leader in research, pedagogical and scientific techniques. But it is not enough to choose – it is necessary to prove the STI, why there are enough grounds to assume global breakthrough on the basis of the given University, to form a pool of selected ecosystem partners in the market and to persuade in availability of necessary resources as well as to present the road map for its full implementation. For ChuvSU this is, of course, digital energy market. It is important to note that we are not talking about turning in one-field high school, but about choosing the driver for development: tomorrow in technology engineers will need designers, lawyers and dozens of other fellow humanitarians.

Today on the "Island" is the open day. Round tables will be held by "Rosseti», «Rosatom», «Rustech», «Gazpromneft», and other major companies in Russia. There will be an opportunity to offer best practices personally to top-managers.

Teachers of ChuvSU Department of Archeology, Ethnography and Regional History Are Participants of the XIII Congress of Russian Anthropologists and Ethnologists

Professor L.A. Taymasov, Professor O.V. Yegorova and senior lecturer T.V. Semenova participated in the XIII Congress of Russian anthropologists and ethnologists. The Congress’ organizers were the Association of anthropologists and ethnologists of Russia, the Institute of Ethnology and Anthropology of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Kazan (Privolzhsky) Federal University, Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan with the support of the Russian Federation Ministry of Science and Higher Education, Federal Agency for nationalities, the Government of the Republic of Tatarstan, Russian Foundation for Basic Research. The Congress received greetings from the President of the Russian Federation, V. V. Putin, and the President of the Republic of Tatarstan, R.N. Minnikhanov. At the plenary meeting, statements were made by representatives of the Russian Federation President’s Administration, the State Duma of the Russian Federation Federal Assembly, the Federal Agency for nationalities, the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan, as well as 8 plenary reports were made. In total 66 sections and 2 round tables were held. There were more than a hundred scientific meetings which presented the basic scientific directions of modern anthropology and ethnology, as well as of related scientific disciplines.

The Chuvash State University scientists made reports "The role of Kazan University in the development of the Chuvash ethnography", "The role of Christian education in the development of interethnic communication in Middle Volga region in the second half of the XIX – the beginning of the XX century", “Gender relations and interaction in marriage rites of the Armenians of Chuvashia». The Congress was attended by more than 800 scientists from research institutions, public and educational organizations from 74 cities of Russia and 20 foreign countries.

According to the Results of the All-Russian Contest of Youth Projects the Chuvash State University Received Grant Support in the Amount of 6 250 000 Rubles

Four projects of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University ranked among the winners of the All-Russian contest selection of Rosmolodzh (Russian Youth):

«Interregional Creative Festival Marathon "December» (4 million 600 thousand rubles);
«Generational Bridge 2.0» (500 thousand rubles);
Regional web resource – web portal «Chuvashia’s Soldiers» (350 thousand rubles);
«Interepiscopate Orthodox Youth Forum of the Volga Region Federal District» (800 thousand rubles).

This year 2 553 projects from 381 educational institutions totaling more than 4.2 billion rubles took part in the contest. Based on the results of the Expert Committee, 609 projects from 255 educational institutions were supported.

The Chuvash State University Hosted a "Dialogue on an Equal Footing" with the Vice President of Kaspersky Lab, Anton Shingarev

On the 11^th of July the building "G" of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University hosted a meeting with the Vice President on communications with government agencies of JSC «Kaspersky Lab», Anton Shingarev. It was organized within the framework of the federal project "Dialogue on an Equal Footing." The moderator was the chief of youth policy department at Education and Youth Policy Ministry of the Chuvash Republic, Angelina Kuznetsova.

At the start of the meeting Anton Shingarev told about his life, about his receiving education in Russia and London, working in media fields, on RT TV-channel, in Kaspersky Lab. By sharing his experience he gave the students a few important tips: «Study. Always and everywhere», «Do not live a boring life», «Do only what is interesting for you». He summed up that experience under the motto "Live to work" brings man much more happiness and harmony with the work. Anton Shingarev answered questions from students about his work and knowledge of jetlag, in GR sphere.  The participants also discussed the themes of Kaspersky Lab's interaction with the countries of the world and overcoming the difficulties in the company’s functioning.

A Graduate of the Chuvash State University Radioelectronics and Automation Faculty, Anton Egorov, Being a member of Russia's National Team Won the Silver Medal at the World Championship in Robotics

A graduate of the Chuvash State University Radioelectronics and Automation Faculty, now a first-year student of Master's degree programme "Space and Engineering Systems" at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technologies, Anton Egorov, being a member of Russia’s team “Reset” won the second place in the World Championship in Robotics Eurobot-2019 Open in Autonomous Robotics League in France.  The Reset team reached the final, where with razor-thin margin yielded the participants from Serbia. In total Russian students got over 32 teams from France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada and other countries.

"This is one of the toughest championships, because the rules change every year, and it is impossible to rely only on experience, there is no perfect formula – it all depends on the level of training for each of the participants, as well as on well-coordinated teamwork”, explains the tutor of the team and the head of the laboratory of Intellectual Space Robotics at Skolkovo, Dmitry Teterukov.

The first championship Eurobot was held in France in 1994. The competition involves autonomous robots that during 100 seconds must perform complex tasks and score maximum points. Students collect the robots themselves, from mechanics and electronics to software.  The theme of this year's championship is "Factory" of Atoms”: robots classified and weighed cylindrical objects of different weights and colors, created new elements and performed experiments.

BACKGROUND:

Anton Egorov is a graduate of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University Radioelectronics and Automation Faculty of 2018, laureate of the scholarship of the Head of the Chuvash Republic, winner of the scholarship of the Head of Cheboksary, holder of the award pin "ChuvSU High Achiever -2018” and the certificate ”Best graduate-2018”. Two years in a row he became a laureate of the Russian Federation Presidential scholarship for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in majors or areas of training corresponding to the priority areas of modernization and technological development the Russian economy. He is a participant of the World Festival of youth and students in Sochi (Foresight-session "Future Technologies”).

In 2018 Anton Egorov interned in Helmholtz Center on materials and power generation (Germany, Berlin), he passed a huge competition. To participate in this program out of 20 000 applications 25 students from around the world were chosen, five of them were students from Russia, including our graduate. He entered the Master's degree programme "Space and Engineering Systems" at Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technologies.

By the way, in Skolkovo these days 12 ChuvSU representatives headed by ChuvSU Rector, A. Yu. Aleksandrov pass their training (pictured after the title: ChuvSU Rector, A.Yu. Aleksandrov, with the ChuvSU graduate, Anton Egorov).

The First Day on the «Island»

Yesterday the official opening of educational intensive workshop “Island 1022” took place, it is held in Skolkovo Institute of science and technology. During the day the participants learned how to design public spaces, competed in a 6-hours simulation design game "High Stakes", and the evening ended with an art-interactive workshop, "Myths of the Island”. The ChuvSU team headed by its Rector, Andrey Aleksandrov, is among 100 universities selected for training.

During the simulation game an online exchange of universities’ projects was organized. The "analysts" of ChuvSU team, Alexander Nazarov, Natalia Voskresenskaya and Vasiliy Makolov, determined the volume of resources required for implementing the projects.  «Designers», Anna Golovina, Darya Troeshestova, Rustam Aleksandrov, formed cases and defended them before the experts. "Politicians", Anna Zavorzaeva and Alexandra Bochkareva, agreed on cooperation with other higher educational institutions of Russia. The «expert», Igor Poverinov, assessed the projects of other teams. "Communicators", Artem Chubukov and Olga Semenova, collected information from the whole team, wrote reports and distributed tasks, and "Transformative Leader”, Andrey Aleksandrov, formulated strategic objectives for the team in the game.

By the middle of the game participants of the educational intensive course managed to make something that was not expected by its organizers – the number of online actions became so great that the database of projects, partnerships and attracted resources simply could not withstand the load. It was therefore decided not to publish the results of the competitions.

A Special Representative of the Russian Federation President on issues of digital and technological development, Dmitry Peskov, said:

"We expect that you will try during these 12 days to think and act in a different way. On the basis of three principles. The first rule is: think of the future. The second rule: think as a team. The third rule: the right to make a mistake and the right to be forgiven”.

Our Students Visiting Cuba

As we have already mentioned, students of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, Roman Ivanov (Faculty of Medicine) and Karina Timofeeva (Faculty of Arts) went to Cuba as participants of the European brigade of volunteer work and solidarity with Cuba "José Martí”. This year 52 persons from 15 countries around the world came to support the movement of solidarity, friendship and mutual understanding.

Young people participated in laying the wreath to the monument to Julio A. Melle, in planting trees in Marty Alley, in conferences «Modern Cuban Economy” and “Political and Electoral System of Cuba”, in the meeting with sports stars of Cuba, visited the Museum Revolution in the Friendship House, etc.

Every day, except weekends, camp participants also go to productive work (3 hours per day). Russian students performed very well in sports competitions. On the 7^th of July in Havana hosted a Friendship Race where Roman Ivanov participated and got the 2nd place. In team rating the Russian team took first place.

The IX All-Russian Science Festival «NAUKA 0+»

The IX All-Russian Festival of science «NAUKA 0 +» (hereinafter – Science Festival) is organized by the Russian Federation Ministry of science and higher education supported by the Russian Federation Ministry of education, M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow City Government and the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The main idea of the Science Festival is popularization of science in the society, increasing the interest in science and research, involving young people in science, as well as developing scientific creativity among pupils and students.

The Russian President Vladimir Putin Signed a Decree on Celebrating the Jubilee of the Founder of Aerodynamics, Academician S.A. Chaplygin

The Russian Federation President, Vladimir Putin, issued a decree to perpetuate the memory of one of the founders of modern aeromechanics and aerodynamics, Academician Sergey Chaplygin (1869-1942), to organize the celebration of the scientist’s 150^th anniversary.

"The Government of the Russian Federation within two months is to form the Organizing Committee to perpetuate the memory of Sergey Chaplygin, to prepare and carry out celebrating his 150^th anniversary, and to approve the composition of the Organizational Committee”, says the text of the Decree. The document also recommends regional officials and scientific and educational institutions to participate in preparing and implementing the activities to commemorate the scientist.

BACKGROUND:

From the 3^rd to the 6^th of June the Chuvash State University hosted the International Conference "Scientific Heritage of Sergey Chaplygin: Non-Holonomic Mechanics, Vortex Structures and Hydrodynamics”, timed to coincide with the 150^th anniversary of the famous Russian and Soviet mechanical engineer, mathematician, one of the founders of modern aeromechanics and aerodynamics, S.A. Chaplygin. Its organizers are the RAS V. A. Steklov Mathematical Institute, I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Innopolis University, Institute of Computer Studies. It should be noted that the choice of the ChuvSU to be the place for holding the Conference was not accidental, the University has a scientific school "Hydrodynamics of High Speed" of Professor Terentiev A.G. During four days the event was attended by more than 100 leading scientists in the field of mathematics, mechanics and modeling, engineers and designers, post-graduate students and young scientists from France, Serbia, Mexico, Poland, Russia. For the first time, Chuvashia was visited by a high-level organizer, the Vice-President of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Academician Vladimir Kozlov.

A Friendly Team of the Engineering Faculty Sends Hello from Karelia

A trip to Karelia, one of the most beautiful and mysterious regions of Russia, the land of taiga forests, lakes and historical monuments, is won by the team which won the bronze medal at the Festival "Student's Spring-2019”. The team leader of Student’s Spring participants is the Director of Palace of culture, A.V. Zavorzaeva. The young people will have a rich program: Shuya river rafting, "crazy gatherings" with a shaman in the Sami tepee, tasting mineral water with a high content of active iron, an excursion “Magic Sampo", visiting Petrozavodsk and much more.

Jubilee Graduation in Alatyrsky Branch of I. N. Ulianov ChuvSU

Yesterday Alatyrsky branch of FSBEI HE «I. N. Ulianov ChuvSU» hosted a graduation ceremony of diploma delivery. This year it was devoted to the anniversary date of the branch which is 25 years old!

Its guests were the head of the city Alatyr – the Chairman of Deputies Assembly, nikolay Zaykin, the acting head of the city administration, Elena Vasyagina, the head of Alatysky region administration Nina Shpilevaya, a member of the Chuvash Republic State Council, Nikolay Efremov, the Rector of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, Andrey Alexandrov, representatives of deputies, industrial enterprises and public organizations of the town.

The thread connecting the generations during the celebration of the anniversary was visible and meaningful. Those who believe the branch to be their brainchild – those who stood at the origins of reviving higher education in the town – congratulated the branch with its anniversary. They were all those who taught and was a mentor, who inspired to work during tough nineties and, of course, those who graduated to start their eventful life. Those present applauded Evgeny Egorov, the first Director of the Alatyrsky branch, an Honorary Citizen of Alatyr and Alatyrsky region. Evgeny Grigorievich wished the branch longevity and prosperity.

An honorary mission of handing diplomas to graduates-2019 fulfilled the Rector of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, Andrey Alexandrov. From his hands more than 130 students got a start in life. Gratitude to teachers, veterans of pedagogical work, management of the University sounded in the parting words to the graduates in statements of the Director of Alatysky branch, Vladimir Pichugin.

The event turned out to be unforgettable. There was everything in it – tears of joy, meeting of generations, warm memories, hope for the future. We wish Alatyrsky branch of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University to celebrate its 100-year anniversary, and today's graduates – to be worthy successors to the stellar Pleiades of their teachers!

M. V. Lomonosov Moscow State University published a book "Three Missions of a University: Education, Science, Society," as art of a series of monographs "Eurasian Universities of the 21st Century". The publication contains materials that characterize the activities of the universities included in the Eurasian Universities Association, their contribution to the development of education, science and society, revealing the contents of developed approaches to international rating «Three missions of a University». 38 rectors of leading universities represent a broad picture of the changes that are taking place today in higher education institutions.

The article of the Rector of the University, A. Yu. Aleksandrov, "I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University in the Eurasian Scientific and Educational Space" presents innovation infrastructure of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, related to its integration into the Eurasian scientific and educational space.
