On the 25^th of February ChuvSU Palace of Culture hosted the opening ceremony of the VII Regional (Open) Championship, «Young Professionals (WorldSkills Russia) » in the Chuvash Republic. Chuvashia welcomed the Championship participants from 12 regions of the Russian Federation.

The ceremony was attended by Deputy Chairman of the Chuvash Republic Cabinet of Ministers, the Chuvash Republic Finance Minister, S.A. Enilina and the Chuvash Republic Minister of education and youth policy S.V. Kudryashov.

The Chuvash State University Hosted an Inter-Regional Olympiad in the Chuvash Language and Literature

On the 26^th of February 26 ChuvSU Russian and Chuvash philology and journalism faculty hosted an inter-regional Olympiad in the Chuvash language and literature. The Olympiad’s organizers and coordinators were the Chuvash Republic Ministry of education and youth policy, the Centre for extracurricular activities "Etker" and I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University. 164 schoolchildren of the 9^th – 11^th grades from schools of the Chuvash Republic, Ulyanovsk oblast, the Republics of Bashkortostan and Tatarstan took part in the event.

The participants were welcomed by the Dean of Russian and Chuvash philology and journalism faculty A. M. Ivanova, the chief specialist-expert of Chuvashia’s Education Ministry I.A. Stepanova, the head of ChuvSU center for working with the gifted youth D.A. Troeshestova, a methodist of the Centre for extracurricular activities " Etker» at Education Ministry of Chuvashia G.V. Andreyeva, the head of the Chuvash language and literature department at the Chuvash Republic Institute of Education A.S. Egorova. Music performances of students and graduates of the Russian and Chuvash philology and journalism faculty pleased everyone and created a festive mood.

When students were solving Olympiad's problems, the associate professor of Chuvash philology and culture chair G.G. Ilyina held a master class «Secrets of Chuvash mythology» for teachers. 60 Chuvash language and literature teachers participated in the master class.

Information on outcomes of the interregional Olympiad of schoolchildren in the Chuvash language and literature is posted at the site of the Centre for extracurricular activities «Etker».

Friendship with Colleagues from Nizhny Novgorod

On the 26^th of February a working meeting of the Chuvash State University Rector, A.Yu. Aleksandrov, with the Rector of the Nizhny Novgorod State Architecture and Civil Engineering University, A.A. Lapshin, took place. The parties discussed issues of developing cooperation in the field of staff training for the construction industry; they exchanged experience in interacting with partners-employers and examined the best practices of career-oriented work with potential applicants. The meeting took place in Nizhny Novgorod at the site of Nizhny Novgorod State Architecture and Civil Engineering University.

ChuvSU Student, Svetlana Sokolova, is a European Champion in Winter Triathlon

On the 23^rd – 24^th of February the town Cheile Grădiştei (Romania) hosted the European Championship in winter triathlon. Three medals of different values were won by the student of ChuvSu management and social technologies faculty Svetlana Sokolova: the 1st place paired with Pavel Andreev from Krasnoyarsk in skiing relay, the second – in the individual championship among the youth, the third place – in the all-around. The program of winter triathlon includes running, cyclo-cross, ski race.

The University Rector, A.Yu. Aleksandrov Had a Working Meeting with Young Entrepreneurs in the Field of IT-Technologies

On the 22^nd of February the University Rector, A. Yu. Aleksandrov, had a working meeting with young entrepreneurs in the field of IT-technologies from Moscow. This time the guests of the University were Arseny Ashomko (Director for mediaproducts’ development in the social media platform “VKontakte”), Yan Annekov (the founder of "Pichesky” advertising agency), Dmitry Bykovsky (co-founder of" Solomoto”), Kalyuzhny Sergey (a creative director at "CreativePeople").

The discussion on cooperation in the field of modern mediaproducts’ development was also attended by the business ombudsman in the Chuvash Republic A.N. Rybakov, the head of ChuvSU business incubator, V.V. Ivanov, the head of innovation-implementation centre R.I. Aleksandrov. After meeting with the Rector prominent speakers in the field of IT-technologies made speeches at the youth forum «Internet: self-realization and money".

Minor Physics-Mathematical Faculty For Schoolchildren Is Organized At the Chuvash State University

On the 21^st of February the Head of Chuvashia Mikhail Ignatiev met with the Rector of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, Chuvash State Council Deputy, Andrey Aleksandrov. They discussed development issues in the Republic system of supplementary and extracurricular education. Andrey Aleksandrov told about creating on ChuvSU basis a Co-working Center and two physical laboratories, which students of the Republic will be engaged in practical physics.

The co-working center assumes an open space for discussions, round tables, team competitions and lessons in an interactive form for both students and teachers. The Centre is also equipped with a play area for younger schoolchildren.

The physics lab for 7-9 graders is equipped with kits for performing laboratory works in mechanical phenomena, molecular physics, electric phenomena. The physics lab for the students of the 10^th -11^th classes is designed for giving lessons in experimental physics classes involving modern sets in kinematics, dynamics, statics, gas laws, and thermodynamics, electric and magnetic phenomena, wave optics and quantum phenomena in physics.

Funds for equipping the minor physics-mathematical facultywere allocated by the Russian Federation Ministry of education at co-financing of the Chuvash Republic and I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University. The total funding amounted to $11.9 million. The project is supported by the Innovative territorial electro-technical cluster of the Chuvash Republic and by the Chuvash regional branch of Russian Engineering Union.

The head of the Chuvashia thanked Andrey Aleksandrov for active involving schoolchildren into science and emphasized that best practices in the development of supplementary and extracurricular education should be promoted in all higher educational institutions in the framework of the activities of Rectors’ Council.

Mikhail Ignatiev stressed that the Russian President Vladimir Putin pays a particular attention to popularization of science classes in educational institutions. In the message of the President to the Russian Federation Federal Assembly it is noted that devotion to a profession and creativity are formed in the early years. During three upcoming years expanding the network of technoparks, quantoriums, digital, science, human development centres will create about one million new jobs in the system of supplementary education, which should be available for all children. Construction of a swimming pool at the Chuvash State University was discussed at the meeting as well. Andrey Aleksandrov said that construction work will start.

On the 19^th of February 19 the Palace of Culture of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University hosted anartistic creativity festival for lecturers and employees. This year, the date of the festival was changed because of state accreditation of the University. The Festival remained the same expected, it found not only the new date, but a new name as well – “Spring in the University Street”. Spring – because spring lives year-round in souls of those who came on the scene of renovated ChuvSU Palace of Culture. Because they are bright, creative and very talented.

Participants of the XXIX World Winter Universiade Met with University Students

Students-athletes of the Chuvash State University, members of the national team of the country – participants of the XXIX world Winter Universiade (it will be held in Krasnoyarsk from the 2^nd to the 12^th of March) – Lana Prusakova Faculty of Russian and Chuvash philology and journalism), Dmitry Mulendeev (Faculty of Medicine) and Christina Kuskova (Faculty of foreign languages) before leaving for the international sports forum held a series of meetings in Alma Mater. They talked with the students of the 1^st and 3^rd courses of Informatics and Computer Technologies Faculty during classes on history and culture of Chuvashia, physical training, answered numerous questions from the students. Meetings were also held in the Sports Club, in the Department of press service and information, in the Editorial Office of the newspaper "Ulyanovets", at faculties, where participants of the XXIX World Winter Universiade study. Students, faculty lecturers and the staff of the University wished the athletes successes and excellent results.

«QUIZ, PLEASE! »: Erudition, Logic And Ingenuity

ChuvSU Palace of Culture hosted the first team intellectual competition "QUIZ, PLEASE!" which is an entertaining team game, where only comprehensive knowledge, logic and ingenuity can help to win.

The tournament organizers were the Faculty of Radioelectronics and Automation, University students’ trade union and LLC "Universal-Service". The tournament was held by the team of professionals "QUIZ, PLEASE, Cheboksary”. Prizes and gifts were provided by the board games store "Activity. RF", time- coffee shop NewYorkCoffee, as well as by the event partner LLC «Universal-Service".

The tournament attracted 10 teams of radioelectronics and automation faculty and three invited teams – the team of lecturers, the team of partners and a combined team including students of medical, chemical and pharmaceutical faculties, the faculty of management and social technologies, electric power and electrical engineering faculty. In total the tournament was attended by about 100 persons. 

Students competed in finding answers to questions in various fields of knowledge: physics, modern subculture, music, art and film direction etc. There was a special round associated with electronics and electricity.

In addition to winning top places, all participants competed for a special prize in the round "Electronics" and for the best photo prize. The team "QUIZ, PLEASE, Cheboksary” raffled off tickets for a regular urban game “QUIZ, PLEASE”.

The tournament participants were satisfied with organization of the event and expressed the wish for these games to be held regularly between the faculties of the University.

Medical Troopers

As part of Privolzhskiy Federal District Youth Forum "iVolga-2018" the curator of medical detachments of Russian Student Detachments Sidorova Krystina received grant support for implementing the project "Medical PFD troopers”. Essentially it is assistance and organization of leisure for the population in villages and towns, but with a medical component: members of medical detachments consult people of different ages about their health, carry out standard on-site examinations, career-guidance activities and lectures aimed at promoting a healthy lifestyle.

The site for implemeting this project became Zainsky region  of the Republic of Tatarstan. Out of 20 project participants, 5 members are representatives of the Chuvash Republic, medical students of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University. From the 25^th of January to the 5^th of February young people conducted several field visits to villages of Zainsky region with a charitable mission.

In addition, each day volunteers had an interesting program that helped not only to unite this group, but to reveal the talents of young people as well. Contests, joint trips to the skating rink, musical evenings with guitar accompaniment were prepared for those who ventured to take part in the project.

Expanding the Boundaries of Cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan

From the 30^th of January to the 3^rd of February an associate professor of electrotechnologies, electric equipment and automated production of ChuvSU energy and electrical engineering faculty A.G. Kalinin together with representatives of JSC "Cheboksary Electric Equipment Plant» visited the Republic of Uzbekistan with a purpose to identify opportunities for effective cooperation in the field of higher education and energy production, in particular in energy saving, faultless and reliable emergency protection.

The framework of the program included a visit to Ferghana Polytechnic Institute, located in the city of Ferghana which is an industrial capital of the republic. A.G. Kalinin made a presentation of the Chuvash State University, including description of its infrastructure provision, he talked about educational and scientific equipment of power engineering and electrical engineering faculty as well.

During the meeting the parties discussed issues of cooperation between the universities and the prospects for mutual using teaching resources in the learning process and sectoral science.

In Honor of the Russian Science Day

On the 8^th of February theassembly hall of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University Academic Council hosted a round table dedicated to the Russian Science Day. Its participants were congratulated by the President of Rectors’ Council of the Chuvash Republic, the Rector of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University, A. Yu. Aleksandrov.

The Vice-Rector for academic work of the Chuvash State Pedagogical University named after I. Ya. Yakovlev, S.V. Ilyina and the Vice-Rector for academic and scientific work of the Chuvash State Agricultural Academy L.M. Kornilova made reports on the outcomes of research activities of their staff.

ChuvSU Rector, A. Yu. Aleksandrov, handed certificates of providing educational scholarship of the Head of the Chuvash Republic to University students for their special creativity.

Young scientists and innovators of manufacturing talked about their scientific research and innovative projects. In the lobby of the building the exhibition of scientific achievements of scientists and the exhibition of scientific and educational publications for teachers of the Chuvash State University was organized.

The Chuvash Republic and the Republic of Cuba Shall Develop Mutually Beneficial Cooperation

On the 2^nd of February a roundtable on developing bilateral relations between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba and the Chuvash Republic’s participating in it was held in the Hall of the Chuvash State University Academic Council.

It was attended by the Head of the Chuvash Republic Mikhail Ignatyev, the Chairman of the Ministers’ Cabinet of Chuvash Republic Ivan Motorin, members of Chuvashia’s Government as well as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, Gerardo Peñalver Portal, who is in Chuvashia with working visit, Attaché of the Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, Vivian Itchman Miranda, the Third Secretary of the Embassy on culture and sport Marta García Hernández, the inter-regional public organization "Society of friendship with Cuba" (RODK) was represented by the its President, Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Aleksey Lavrov and Vice President of RODK Ruslan Zakharov.

The moderator of the meeting was the Rector of FSBEI HE “I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University”, Andrey Aleksandrov.

The round table discussed a wide range of issues related to strengthening multifaceted cooperation.

The Head of the Chuvashia, Mikhail Ignatiev, welcomed the distinguished guests. He noted that the meeting was taking place at one of the leading Universities – the Chuvash State University, which trains students from more than 40 countries of the world. "People-to-people ties in the educational field are expanding. I expect that we will further develop cooperation with the Republic of Cuba in the field of education”, said the Head of the Republic.

The Head of the region stressed that Chuvashia is an open region which pays great attention to the development of external relations. Today, trade and economic cooperation with 96 foreign countries are established. Foreign trade turnover in 2018 increased by 11% and made 550 million dollars. Mikhail Ignatiev also noted that Chuvashia has a great export potential. The Republic’s area of strength is its enterprises of electrotechnical cluster that today produce more than 100 thousand units of products and successfully compete with international companies.

Cuba is one of important trade and economic partner of Chuvashia; cooperation with Cuba has been constructive and is constantly growing. Trade turnover between the two republics is about 300 thousand dollars, and it has been steadily increasing. Forexample, lastyearitincreasedby 7% comparedto 2017.

"We see great benefits for both republics in strengthening comprehensive ties between Chuvashia and Cuba. Activities associated with anniversaries – the 550^th anniversary of Cheboksary foundation and the 100^th anniversary of forming the Chuvash autonomous region should contribute to building a multi-faceted mutually beneficial cooperation”, added the Head of the Republic.

Mikhail Ignatiev expressed his confidence that the visit of the Cuban delegation to Chuvashia and overall creative force will become an extra stimulus for further development of bilateral relations.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation, Gerardo Peñalver Portal in his turn assured that the Republic of Cuba is ready to consider all areas of cooperation development, which are important for the parties.

"We visited leading enterprises and organizations. With a few of them specific negotiations were held, cooperation projects and intentions to develop them further are discussed”, said Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Cuba in the Russian Federation.

Gerardo Peñalver Portal also announced readiness to cooperate with Chuvashia, in particular in the field of higher education, in implementing students’ exchange. The prospects of cooperation in the field of culture and sports are discussed as well.

The President of interregional public organization "Society of friendship with Cuba", Deputy Minister of Finance of the Russian Federation Aleksey Lavrov told about joint projects of Russia and Cuba, about the events dedicated to 85-th anniversary of the first cosmonaut, Yuri Gagarin, who was the President of the Soviet-Cuban Friendship Society.

Alexey Lavrov also presented the Head of Chuvashia a photo album dedicated to the 90^th anniversary of Ernesto Che Guevara.

The event included demonstration and discussion of the film about the Republic of Cuba.

The Ministry of Education and Science of Russia Once Again Recognized the Chuvash State University to Be an Effective Institution of Higher Education

The Ministry of science and higher education of the Russian Federation summed up the results of regular annual monitoring of effectiveness of educational institutions of higher education. According to the results of monitoring in 2018 I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University for the seventh consecutive year is recognized to be an effective institution of higher education. Educational institutions were evaluated according to key indicators: "Educational activities", "Research", "International activities", "Financial-economic activities», «Salaries of academic teaching staff "," Employment ","Additional index”.

The activities of the Alatyr branch of I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University is recognized to be effective as well.

The Chuvash State University Hosts an Academic Olympiad in Mathematics

On the 1^st of February I. N. Ulianov Chuvash State University hosted the opening ceremony of the regional stage of the All-Russian Olympiad in mathematics for schoolchildren of 9^th – 11^th classes and l. Euler Olympiad for students of the 7^th -8^th classes. The Olympiads’ opening ceremony was attended by the Chairman of the Chuvash Republic Rectors’ Board, ChuvSU Rector, A. Yu. Aleksandrov, the Dean of Applied Mathematics, Physics and Information Technologies Faculty A. Yu. Ivanitsky, the head of the Centre for working with the gifted youth D.A. Troeshestova. They wished schoolchildren academic excellence and success in choosing their future profession and invited to Doors Open Day which will take place on the 16th of February at 13:30 at the University Palace of Culture.

107 pupils of the 9th – 11th classes participate at the regional stage of the Olympiad in mathematics and 41 students of the 7th – 8th classes take part at the regional stage of l. Euler Olympiad. On this day, theoretical tours of Olympiads are held at the same time in all regions of the country.
